All patients are different and require different treatment plans. During a brief free consultation Dr. Jenny Bisset can estimate what you might need for your health concerns. Many programs will last for several months in order to address the root cause.
Dr. Jenny Bisset is not in network with any insurance company and her work is not covered by insurance. Depending on your plan, HSA/FSA funds may be able to be used toward the cost of services. Some acupuncture appointments and some lab work may be reimbursable on an out-of-network basis. For normal annual lab tests we recommend you get those through your primary care MD, then we can add them to your file for review along with the specialty labs we may run. You may request a superbill receipt to submit to your insurance for acupuncture and certain labs, however no guarantee is made for reimbursement. Every plan is different. Please contact your insurance company for details. For Functional Medicine packages and consultations, insurance companies generally do not reimburse for wellness and prevention, nor do they allow for the time we take to address each individual’s health history, lab review and wellness plans. Hence, superbills are not provided for these services.
Dr. Jenny Bisset will order any necessary labs for you through Rupa Health, which offers lower costs and you will pay Rupa Health directly. Some labs will be run at home and some may require a special phlebotomist. Dr. Bisset works with each individual to determine which tests are necessary and will consider the cost limitations if any.

Dr. Jenny Bisset is trained in holistic medicine which focuses on the individual, not just the disease, and strives to find the root cause of the concern so that lasting healing may be achieved. She practices pro-active medicine to prevent illness. She orders western labs, but does not prescribe western pharmaceuticals, and instead uses natural prescriptions such as Chinese herbs, diet and lifestyle modifications, along with targeted supplements when needed.
Dr. Jenny Bisset’s areas of focus are chronic stress, gut and skin conditions. Common complaints range from fatigue and anxiety, gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, heartburn, brain fog to many skin and hair symptoms, and many more. As these can be confusing to understand, patients are encouraged to reach out to Dr. Bisset for a free consultation.
The patient portal is a secure way to communicate by phone or video, to chat, and for Dr. Jenny Bisset to store or share your lab results, superbills, lifestyle plans or medical records. Privacy is an important issue, and Dr. Bisset follows Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance. The portal allows all communications and records to stay secure and compliant in one place.
Dr. Jenny Bisset reserves time for each patient, and supplies reminder notices ahead of each appointment. She requires 24 hours notice for cancellations, so that the reserved time may be allocated to someone else in need. If an appointment is cancelled within the 24 hour window, the full fee will be charged.
No, Dr. Jenny Bisset only treats patients who are in California at the time of the appointment.
Dr. Jenny Bisset’s acupuncture office is in San Carlos CA, however Functional Medicine and Chinese herbal appointments are virtual.
